June 11, 2013

The Business-Higher Education Forum’s Annual Summer Meeting, Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD) addressed a number of cyber issues such as the cyber threat and strategies to prepare a pipeline of cyber warriors needed to fulfill the burgeoning U.S. information security industry.

“Our country relies heavily on those in the STEM fields. It is so important that we encourage students to pursue careers in STEM and that provide them with the tools they need to be successful in these fields,” Congressman Ruppersberger said.

The forum was sponsored by the Business-Higher Education Forum, which includes some of the country’s top business and academic leaders who discuss cutting-edge education matters and engage numerous stakeholders in the process of creating innovative solutions.

As Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Committee, Congressman Ruppersberger is deeply concerned about the country’s cyber workforce shortage as well as our ability to keep pace with competing countries in STEM education. Studies show the U.S. will need 1 million more STEM professionals than we are currently on track to produce.
