Washington, DC — Today, Ranking Member Jim Himes released the following statement:

“The announcement of a peace agreement is a welcome development that offers hope after more than two years of devastating violence in Israel and Gaza. The agreement must be implemented as quickly as possible so that Israeli hostages are released and humanitarian aid can be delivered to Gaza where civilians continue to suffer. It is my sincere hope that this agreement opens a pathway for peace in the region—one that offers security to Israel and allows for a long-term strategic vision in which the Israeli and Palestinian people live within safe and recognized borders.”
