Himes Calls for Briefing on Intelligence Community Role in Lethal Strikes
Washington,
December 1, 2025
WASHINGTON – Today, Ranking Member Jim Himes (CT-04) delivered the following excerpt in his opening remarks at a closed hearing for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence: As I did last week, I will add that with all due respect to our witnesses, I must renew my request to the Chairman to schedule a briefing on the Intelligence Community’s support, if any, to DOD lethal strikes in the Caribbean and Pacific. It has now been three months since the Department initiated those strikes, and to the best of my knowledge, no one from the IC has briefed this committee or any other about how it is supporting the strikes from a tactical perspective or provided any analysis of their strategic impact. Nor have we been briefed about growing signs that the Administration is considering additional military action in the region. This is an issue of fundamental oversight responsibility for this committee, regardless of your views on the merits. |
