Joint Statement by HPSCI Chairman Mike Rogers and Ranking Member C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger

“We applaud the Senate Intelligence Committee’s new draft cybersecurity information-sharing bill, and we urge the Committee and the full Senate to move quickly to pass this vital bill. The threat to our cyber networks grows worse every day, and American companies suffer daily from these attacks.  For example, the Chinese government aggressively steals intellectual property and trade secrets. These attacks are costing American jobs and threaten our economic and national security. 

This legislation will allow the private sector to protect itself from this severe onslaught of attacks, ultimately protecting the American economy as a whole.  We are confident that a final bill that enhances our security while protecting privacy and civil liberties can be worked out quickly in conference.”
