Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD), Ranking Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, released the following statement after the evacuation of the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli. The Ranking Member was briefed before and after the evacuation took place, and will continue to be briefed as the situation develops.

  “I appreciate the collaborative work of the Department of State and Department of Defense in assessing threat levels and ultimately deciding to temporarily move the personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli to safety. When it comes to American personnel working around the world to further the interests of the U.S., we must do everything we can to ensure their safety."
