Schiff Applauds Senate Intelligence Committee Election Security Recommendations

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), the Ranking Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, released the following statement:

“With the midterms now only months away, Congress must act to protect our voting systems from malicious interference and ensure every Americans’ vote is counted.

“The bipartisan recommendations of the Senate Intelligence Committee today are an excellent step forward, and should be put into immediate effect through legislation to assist states in protecting the vote, securing election systems, and establishing strong lines of communication between the federal government and states.

“One of the most important recommendations — creating a hub for states to communicate with the DHS — is long overdue, and must be coupled with coordination with the nation’s intelligence agencies. As I have long said, any state that does not have a paper trail is negligent, and must remedy it before the next elections. I hope today’s bipartisan Senate report will help propel the action we need.”
