Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), the Ranking Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, released the following statement:

“With his sentencing today as part of Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation, George Papadopoulos has been held to account for lying to federal investigators – lies which materially impeded the progress of the FBI’s inquiry. It is my hope that when Mr. Papadopoulos has finished his sentence, he will cooperate with congressional investigations, including our ongoing investigation in the House Intelligence Committee.

“In little over a year, the Special Counsel has obtained eight convictions, and charged an additional twenty-six individuals and three corporations, including many Russians. He must be given the time and space to complete his work in a comprehensive manner, and the President and his congressional allies must cease their efforts to undermine this important investigation.”
